Walking in Obedience

Bible Reference: Deuteronomy 30:19

Bible Teaching:

As Christians, we are called to walk in obedience to God’s commands and principles. In Deuteronomy 30:19, Moses says, “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.” Obedience to God’s commands brings life, blessings, and joy.

Key Points:

1. Choose life: We have a choice to make: to obey God’s commands and experience life, or to disobey and face consequences.
2. Blessings and curses: Obedience brings blessings, while disobedience brings curses.
3. Set apart: Walking in obedience sets us apart as followers of God.

Biblical Examples:

1. Abraham’s obedience: Abraham obeyed God’s call to leave his homeland and trust in His promise (Genesis 12:1-4).
2. Jesus’ obedience: Jesus obeyed God’s will, even to the point of death on the cross (Philippians 2:8).

Application:

1. Study God’s Word: Study God’s Word to understand His commands and principles.
2. Obey God’s commands: Make a conscious effort to obey God’s commands and principles.
3. Trust God’s goodness: Trust that God’s commands are for our good and that obedience brings blessings.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, help me to walk in obedience to Your commands and principles. Give me the wisdom and strength to choose life and to trust in Your goodness. May my obedience bring blessings to me to Your glory and to the benefit of those around me. Amen.
