Living with Purpose

Bible Reference: Ephesians 2:10

Bible Teaching:

As Christians, we are called to live with purpose, knowing that God has a plan for our lives. In Ephesians 2:10, Paul writes, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” This verse reminds us that we are created with a purpose, and that purpose involves doing good works that God has prepared for us.

Key Points:

  1. God’s sovereignty: Our lives are not a product of chance or luck, but rather a sovereign plan of God.
  2. Good works: As believers, we are called to do good works that bring glory to God and benefit others.
  3. Prepared in advance: God has prepared good works for us to do, and it’s our responsibility to discover and fulfill them.

Biblical Examples:

  1. Esther’s story: Esther’s life was marked by purpose, as she was chosen by God to save the Jewish people from destruction (Esther 4:14).
  2. Paul’s ministry: Paul’s life was characterized by purpose, as he was called by God to preach the gospel to the Gentiles (Acts 9:15-16).

Application:

  1. Seek God’s purpose: Pray and seek God’s guidance to discover the purpose He has for your life.
  2. Live intentionally: Live each day with intention, seeking to fulfill the good works God has prepared for you.
  3. Trust God’s sovereignty: Trust that God is sovereign over your life, and that He will guide you as you seek to fulfill His purpose.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, help me to live with purpose, knowing that You have a plan for my life. Give me the wisdom and courage to discover and fulfill the good works You’ve prepared for me. May my life bring glory to You and reflect Your love to others. Amen.
